Knives, Athames, bolins and sharp pointy things
Everyone expects a smith to be able to make a good knife, and I can. However, there are a lot of variables from the intended use, to historical accuracy and materials used in manufacture. Then it starts to get complicated. I am happy to guide you through the process of deciding exactly how you want your blade to be.
Below are some of the many blades I have made over the years, please click on a picture to see a larger version with a description.
Please note that all my hardening and tempering is done by eye, therefore, while
I can make a weapon for re-
Blades and other weaponry can only be sold to persons over 18
years of age, proof of age may be required.
Millstream forge reserves the right to
refuse to sell any knife or weapon to anyone, without giving a reason.
As you can see there are many variations in making a knife, other than size, shape, crossguard, handle, sheath etc. I also do my own woodturning of handles, and keep a stock of various woods, both native and exotic. Other woods can be obtained on request.
When thinking of ordering a knife, think about the application you want it for, cooking, bushcrafting, hunting and skinning require different knife shapes and sharpening angles.
I can also make blades from pattern welded steels (commonly called Damascus Steel) I tend to use 15N20 and 1095 steels for these. Due to time involved, there may be a longer wait for them.
